Rainbow House Zurich

The Regenbogenhaus Zurich is an open meeting place for the LGBTQIA+ community and operates on the principles of solidarity and consideration.

The Regenbogenhaus is not suitable for loud (music) events, as there are apartments above it.

General Information
The Rainbow House is intended to be open to all interested individuals and does not exclude anyone.
Scheduled bookings take priority over other uses.

Hours of Operation
The Rainbow House is open to guests at any time during the hours published on the website. For regular use or events, reservations must be made with the office. Reservations are handled on a “first come, first served” basis; that is, the reservation entered first takes precedence. Member organizations of the Regenbogenhaus association generally have priority over external bookings.

When using the space, you must be considerate of other activities taking place simultaneously at the Regenbogenhaus and comply with the Zollhaus house rules; for example, you must not disturb the residents’ sleep at night.

Furnishings and Inventory
You may arrange any furniture you find at Regenbogenhaus as needed for your purposes. Please carry tables in pairs.

After events with concert seating, please store or restock two stacks of chairs in the print room; the rest may remain stacked in a corner of the room.

The following equipment is available at the Regenbogenhaus (if the space is being used for multiple purposes simultaneously, you may need to clarify who needs what):

  •  80 stackable chairs (20 of which are in the print room, 20 in Basement 2)

  •  12 folding tables and 1 non-folding, height-adjustable table

  •  1 projector in a cart

  •  2 flip charts (without paper or markers)

  •  2 beanbag chairs

  •  2 sofas, 3 armchairs, 3 upholstered stools

  •  approx. 8 yoga mats

  •  approx. 20 seat cushions

  •  1 speaker system (2 speakers, 1 mixer)

  •  4 wireless microphone headsets

  •  Interlocking floor tiles for shared use in Basement 1

  •  Cleaning supplies are in the print room (“storage” in the hallway)

  •  Some stationery and office supplies can be found in the team cabinet

Tidying Up and Cleaning
Leave the Rainbow House just as you would like to find it: clean and tidy.
Take back with you any items you brought, such as food, drinks, decorations, tablecloths, and napkins, etc.

  •  Do not take any Rainbow House inventory (appliances, dishes, furniture, etc.) with you.

  •  Wash, dry, and put away the dishes from the kitchenette in the Rainbow House properly.

  •  Return used games, books, etc., to their designated places.

  •  Remove adhesive tape, string, and similar items from windows, doors, and lamps.

  •  Wipe down chairs and tables with a damp cloth and put them back in their proper places.

  •  Clean the floors if they are very dirty.

  •  Cleaning supplies are located in the printer room (“storage” in the hallway).

  •  Collect ashes, cigarette butts, and other trash from the terrace.

Waste Disposal and Recycling
Apart from small amounts of residual waste, no trash is left behind at Regenbogenhaus.

  • Full Zürisack bags can be disposed of directly in front of the main entrance at Zollstrasse 117.

  • You can collect paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum, and PET and dispose of them separately in the appropriate containers in the recycling room on the ground floor (enter the bike storage area, turn left, and go all the way to the back of the hallway to “Recycling”).

Zollküche
As tenants of the Zollhaus, members of the Regenbogenhaus are entitled to use the neighboring Zollküche.
The Zollküche is a common area of the Zollhaus. It is the only communal kitchen in the Zollhaus and offers cooking and socializing space for up to 50 people.
The Zollküche may be entered and used by other people at any time—exclusive use is therefore not permitted. The Zollküche’s house rules must be followed.

Leaving the Regenbogenhaus
Due to the Regenbogenhaus’s exposed location, it is extremely important that you close all doors securely when leaving!
Please check the doors:

  •  to the hallway

  •  to the Zollküche

  •  to the Gleisterrasse

  •  Return the basement key and projector key to the safe, if applicable

Use and Liability
It goes without saying that the rooms and furnishings of the Regenbogenhaus must be treated with care. The Rainbow House may not be sublet to third parties. If multiple events are taking place simultaneously, participants should be considerate of one another and try not to disturb each other.
At least one person from the Rainbow House team or an organization responsible for an event must be present.

  • Smoking is permitted only on the terrace.

  • Please make sure you do not disturb the neighbors with noise or smoke, especially in the evening or at night.

  • For events with a defined group of attendees, it is at the discretion of the organizers whether access is granted to walk-in visitors.

  • You are responsible for any damage caused during your use of the space. Report all damage to the office so that it can be repaired promptly.

  • You are liable for any damage to the premises and inventory caused intentionally or through improper use, as well as for any consequences resulting from excessive noise.
